Battle Uss
What's the deepest shipwreck you have ever heard of?
The deepest I have ever heard of is the USS Hoel, a Fletcher class destroyer sunk in the Battle of Samar in 1944. She sank in 4000 fathoms (24000 feet).
The USS Johnston, and the USS Samuel B. Roberts sank in the same battle, along with the jeep carrier USS Gambier Bay. I don't know which one of these is deepest. There are a lot of sunken ships in the Pacific. I would not be surprised to learn that there are several in the Marianas Trench, the deepest place on earth.
Regards,
Dan
