Dunes Michigan
has anybody been to the sleeping bear sand dunes in Detroit Michigan? if so tell me about it!!?
Sleeping bear dunes is a national park very near both Little Glen (lake) and lake Michigan. I have a cottage near there. Basically, it is a giant sand hill you get to climb. After you go over the first slope, there is an amazing view of Little Glen and the surroudning forest. Also it is fun to look at everyone in the field below. After the first peak, you can either go left, right, or strait. Left takes you to a lookout with wooden benches and some trees for shade. Right takes you on a LONG trial that goes all the way to lake micigan. Right takes you to a very steep slope that is fun to run down. I prefer running down the first (main) slope though, it is much longer (about a 10 second run down)
all in all sleeping bear dunes is very fun and it is by far my favorite part of going up north... either sleeping bear dunes, or hiking in the woods. If you are in detroit, it is definatly worth visiting. There are plenty of hotels up there
