Do elementary teachers make just enough money to pay bills or do they have a lot of extra money?

i am thiking about being one but i also want money to buy things when i want them
Things i want to have
cell phone with texting
a average car. I want it to be nice but nothing like a Lexus or Mercedes. Something for a normal person
eventually get a nice house
Money to buy new clothes if i like them, and to hang out with friends on the weekend
i live in Pa, and try to do your best to help me make my decision.

School teachers are the most under paid professionals in the United States today. They don't make luxury wages by any means, and their job is a difficult one. You don't get to just "call in sick" as a teacher, as you have to find a substititute, etc. However, there are some definite perks to being a teacher. You'll always have weekends off (unless you get stuck with training or Saturday School duty), you get all major holidays off, and you get a decent summer, spring break, and winter break off if you do not teach at a year round school. As the economy worsens, and money for education is being cut, the less teachers are being paid and the more they have to dig into their pockets to purchase materials for their own classrooms. The average income for teachers in the United States is $31,704 some make much more than that, and some make much less than that.

If you really want to become a teacher, you should find a way to do it, regardless of the money. Even if it means doing something extra on the side to supplement your income (many teachers do just that). You have to love children, and remember that the thanks and the gratitude are highly lacking, but the daily rewards of being in a classroom are absolutely fantastic. I suggest that you enroll in education courses, and try substitute teaching first to see if you like it. The pay is actually more than regular teachers make, and you will get a feel for what it is about before committing to a full time job.
